From Lecture 3
1. Know the derivation of the words prokaryote and eukaryote.
2. Know the primary characteristics of prokaryotes and eukaryotes and how they are different from one another.
3. Know the evolutionary relationships between prokaryotes and eukaryotes and how the domains are related to this.
4. Know the three levels of the outer container of a bacteria and which is unique to a bacteria.
5. Understand what taxis is.
6. Know in detail the three ways in which DNA is transferred between bacteria. Know the name of each.
7. Be able to describe what each mode of nutrition is and give an example of each:
a. Photoautotroph
b. Chemoautotroph
c. Chemoheterotroph
8. Know what organism is responsible for the oxygen revolution. Also, what evidence from the geological record makes us aware that there was an oxygen revolution?
9. What is an obligate anaerobe? Be able to give an example of one.
