AP Biology Gang With James Watson

World famous biologist and Nobel Prize winner James Watson was interviewed for the "City Arts and Lectures" series regarding his most recent book, "Avoid Boring People ." Watson described his early life, entering the University of Chicago at the age of 15, quickly obtaining a B.S. and then a Ph.D., and eventually partnering with Francis Crick at Cambridge University at the age of 22. He described how this amazing partnership allowed the two of them to discover the double helix structure of DNA. Highly opinionated, irreverant, but thoroughly entertaining, we all enjoyed hearing Watson talk about his life in science and views on various people and professions: Stephen Jay Gould (not his favorite person), economists (there are way too many of them, and what good are they anyway?), etc. Pictured from left to right in the front row: Jeff Igusa, Mr. Hammack, Michael Chu, Bobby Tchelepi, Andrew Schnell, Shannon Garner, Liz Mellema, Sara Silberstein, Careen Ingle, Mrs. Chu (Michael's mom).
