AP Biology Gang With Paul Berg

Mayer Theater
Santa Clara University
March 12, 2008

Nobel Prize winning biologist and discoverer of recombinant DNA, Paul Berg, gave a lecture in the Mayer Theater at Santa Clara University. His talk was a thorough overview of all aspects of the embryonic stem cell controversy- from the basic biology to the ethical, societal, and political implications. We all appreciated his enlightening and very complete coverage of the material. At first we didn't think we would get a picture with him, but on our way out we saw him driving away in a little golf cart typed vehicle, and stopped him, and asked for a picture. The next day, according to Bonnie Powers (who's father is a professor at Santa Clara University), Dr. Berg's photo-op with Los Gatos High students was the talk of the university!
