AP Biology Gang With Dr. Irving Weissman

Cafe Scientifique
Palo Alto (Roche Labs)
November 8, 2005

Dr. Weissman, the director of of the Stanford Institute of Cancer and Stem Cell Biology and Medicine, gave a clear and articulate overview of stem cell biology without any visual aids. Not only did he highlight some of the cutting edge breakthroughs in adult and embryonic stem cell research but he also discussed the moral, ethical, religious, and political implications of this new technology. Twenty-one AP Biology students attended the lecture (not all pictured here) and two asked questions during the question and answer session (Emily Herrick and Alison McDonald).
